Your first 90 days

Opening the account is the easy part. On-time, boring use is what builds the file.

Turn on autopay for at least the minimum the day the account opens.

Keep charges small — often under 10–30% of the limit — and pay the statement in full when you can.

Give it about three months before you expect a score to feel “real.” Avoid stacking new applications while this tradeline settles.

Do not dissect category spending on day one. Wait until you have a few real statements.
